THE FILM

Randy Crouch: The Hillbilly hippy rock and roll fiddle player from outer space, as described by Brad Piccolo in the 1970s still stands up decades later. Take a journey into a story stranger than fiction about a man many consider legend.

On a Sunday afternoon in 2017, Randy Crouch played a free show at Hunt Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Filmmaker Beth Turner, listening to these new originals and ones that took her back to her 20s ... she knew then and there this story had to be told.

After dozens of interviews, hundreds of hours of footage, visits and interviews with the Crouch family themselves...there are still dozens of interviews left unrecorded and hours of footage waiting to be uncovered. Randy and Liz Crouch never sought the spotlight. What Randy creates with his music compels people like Turner to have to at least try and capture a bit of that magic on camera, and the impact of community that follows wherever he’s been.

THE FILMMAKER

Beth Turner began this film in 2017, shortly after receiving her Master of Arts in Documentary Film from the University of Arkansas. While there, the Society of Professional Journalists awarded her first film First Place in Extended News Division* and M.e.t. Tulsa awarded her eco-journalist of the year*.

Working on this film nights and weekends, she continued to garner awards as Union Schools’ Video Producer both with OKPRSA* and Tulsa PRSA*.
Turner is a founding member of the rock trio, ThunderSleet and of the film’s production company, StoryTeller Productions.

THE PRODUCTION COMPANY

Turner launched StoryTeller Productions full-time two weeks before COVID lockdown in 2020.

The trauma of losing our friends and family overwhelmed all of us. StoryTeller Productions became a hub of hope for recording, organizing and archiving stories and memories. Finding where to be helpful in community inspires Turner, which you can see as the message of this film.

Turner continues running her production company, StoryTeller Productions, focused on helping others tell and preserve their own stories while continuing to create outtakes from yet unseen interviews and stories.
